ADAM SCRIMSHIRE (FT. AND IS PHI) AFTER

Adam Scrimshire began making music at age 14 with the aid of a Yamaha tone generator and an 8-bit sampler. In 2006 he signed with Wah Wah 45s and began releasing his jazz-infused soul with electronic hints. Adam’s latest release is Listeners - an album featuring a number of incredible vocalists such as Maddison McFerrin and Ego Ella May. ‘After’ is the 5th track on the 9 song album. It features vocalist And Is Phi - a jazz vocalist, writer and member of the Deptford-based Steam Down collective. The song uses her stretchy, honeyed vocals over tenderly played jazz piano chords. The song picks up tempo with floral production that includes string arrangements, percussion and a dancey, groove-driven rhythm section. And Is Phi’s vocals develop into fluid, improvised sections, which carry a soulful freedom making ‘After’ an optimistic and light piece mid-album delight. -Ellie Rose-Davies
